2018 is the year of pleasing product design!

As a former graphic design student, I learned that a good product design can make all the difference. Of course, the product needs to be good, but the design is what catches peoples attention. The newest foundation by Benefit Cosmetics has been designed by some A plus designers, in my opinion. This is the cutest little bottle and I can see a million teens everywhere vying to get this on their makeup stands.

While loving a good design, I need a foundation that's going to work.

I completely guessed my color for this when I ordered. I got shade 4, which after using I'll admit I could go to a shade 3. But the foundation was easily blendable and worked into my skin well. A lot of foundations seem to be going towards that watery formulation lately and while I don't hate it, I can't say that I'm in love with it yet.

I didn't bother using a brush or a blender to put this on, I used my fingers and while that may seem weird or gross to some, I feel like this method works well with this foundation. It's sheer and soft, best used for covering up any large pores and minor imperfections you may have. I liked that it was mattifying and didn't give my combination skin any extra oil to worry about. I had read some reviews that it wasn't good for people with combination/oily skin, so I'm happy to have learned that it works just fine in my case.

The bottle, while super cute, is also very compact. I had no issue fitting this into my purse to bring with me to work in case of the need for any touch ups. I've never been able to do that with any other foundation before and I have really liked that option. And did I need it! I needed to touch up my nose at least twice, though I put the blame on my glasses and the fact that I've been getting over the cold from hell, so I rubbed some of it off with tissues.

All things considered, I enjoyed wearing this! If you're looking for something light and need minimal coverage, this would be a good option. And how can you say no to that face?!

Reflecting on yourself isn't always easy.

I have to admit that looking at myself and judging or scrutinizing hasn't always come to the best outcome. I see things in myself that I feel like I need to change, but put them off for some other time. Claiming that I'm too busy or convincing myself that there's something else I need to do before I can work on myself.

That time is over. Those things are done.

Now is the time where I've realized that I can't set aside my mental health or the things in my life that need changing. I've always thought that I made the time to relax and unwind from the usual routine of the week, but what I've been doing hasn't really been helping. I've been setting aside my concerns and real issues with myself, hoping they would just fix themselves.

It's going to be such a long road to get to where I need and want to be. I want to be healthier, not just in my body, but in my mind. Along with the physical health is going to come the mental; the bits of myself that I don't want to face, the internal mechanization's that have driven themselves into a rhythm.

I really don't know how I'm going to do it. Journaling has been helping, though I will admit it hasn't always been easy or convenient to just pull out my journal and start writing things down. Especially when I don't know what to say. Everything I write sounds stupid. And that's only discouraging.

I'm going to do my best to put a real focus on fixing myself from the inside, out, and I hope that I can make some real progress. I'm going to try and document that progress here, as much as I can. This blog has become such an outlet for me, I can't even explain it. It doesn't even matter to me if people are reading it, though I hope they are, in the hopes that I'm possibly not alone with these thoughts of self doubt. Updates will come soon.

Le temps viendra.

"No matter how we choose to live, we both die at the end."

They Both Die at the End by Adam Silvera is one of those books that you pick up because you read the summary and thought it sounded interesting, but end up becoming completely invested in. I wasn't expecting to like this book as much as I did, and I definitely have some qualms with it, but it also made me cry. So this is on my list of great books, right there with All the Bright Places and Looking For Alaska.

I was not planning on making a post for this book, but it struck me so hard when I finished that I knew it deserved one. This novel takes place on September 5, 2017. It spans an entire day, it's different chapters various times of the day. We follow Mateo and Rufus, who've gotten the call at midnight that at some point in the next twenty four hours, they are going to die. The call has a specific chime and they'll keep calling you until you answer. It's called Death-Cast and I have to admit I was very intrigued but also very disappointed that we didn't get to learn more about the company and how they get their information. Because as history has proved, Death-Cast is never wrong. So who is giving them this information?

Mateo and Rufus meet on a 'Last Friends' app and spend their entire day together, going through the city of New York, saying goodbye to loved ones and going on their last adventure with one another. They go for breakfast, go on a fake skydiving experience, visit the cemetery, sing karaoke and become good friends in the irony of their last day. Actually, they seem to fall in love at the end, which I thought was extreme, but who am I to judge on feelings right before death? It was cute, either way. I'm not going to give away the ending, but we're left with the terrifying death of one of the boys and the other we're pretty much left to speculate.

There were some things I was a little disappointed with; meaning that I wish we had gotten more information in some spots. I desperately want to know more about Death-Cast and how they get their information, how they find out someone is going to die that day. It's such a wild concept. There is a part in the book where this one character we meet briefly explains a story she had been writing about something called Life-Cast, where when you find out you're going to die, you can go and find out when and where you're going to be reincarnated. Both the these concepts are interesting to me and I wish the author had more to offer when it came to them. Maybe a future book?

I couldn't stay disappointed for long; this is a character driven book and is all about reminding the reader that there is no life without death. Everyone has their own way of facing death, but whether you're prepared or not, you're going to face it eventually. It makes you question; what would you do with your last twenty four hours of life?

Wow, I haven't done one of these posts in SO long.

Hello Lovelies! A long overdue favorites post here and while there isn't that much, I've used all of these things religiously in the last month and I need to make sure you know about them! Some of these you will have no doubt seen before on this blog and I don't even have an excuse for that; they're well loved and deserved the repeat appearance!

I won't go into details about my scalp and dandruff, you can pick and choose any of my Thin Hair Diaries posts for that song and dance. But I'm always on the hunt for products that will ease that pain, so picking up the Love Beauty and Planet Tea Tree Oil and Vetiver shampoo was a no brainer. It works pretty well for the price, so I've got no complaints! My Kenra Platinum texture spray needed to be included this month because I probably wouldn't have survived without it. I don't know what has been going on with my hair lately, but if this hadn't been around for me to use for grip and volume, I might have just shaved my hair off completely.

I'm always switching around my scents, but one I reached for the most this month was definitely Zoella Beauty's Tutti Fruity Let's Spritz. It's my absolute favorite of all her scents and I had to go out and buy more! Another new addition is the Brazilian Bum Bum Cream, which I bought for my trip to Florida. This is a crazy good smelling body lotion and it actually has a little bit of sparkle in it, to make your skin really shine while you're out in the sun.

This hair mask is the newest addition, but I don't think I'll be going back anytime soon. I've dyed my hair back to brown recently to get rid of the ombre I'd had and this has been good for making sure my color looks vibrant and fresh. It doesn't hurt that this smells amazing. Literally one of the best smelling things I put in my hair, seriously.

Toothpaste is a weird addition, I know, but I've been mixing up my dental products lately and this has been a brand I've really enjoyed. I found this charcoal one they have and while brushing your teeth and having them turn black is a weird sight, I can't complain about the results. This brand is vegan and cruelty free, so it's a perfect choice all around!
