"Oh, surely not, so crude."

 Does anyone remember the very last Harry Potter movie premiere, when J.K. Rowling said;

Whether you come back by page or by the big screen, Hogwarts will always be there to welcome you home.

I mean, yes, you teared up when she said it, when you heard it, but I never really thought going back to Hogwarts would bring so much back to me. This is going to be a seven (duh) part series on my blog where I re-read Harry Potter, annotate my old books, and relive everything that made me fall in love with this series when I was seven years old.

This is something I've tried in the past and only got up to GoF (Goblet of Fire for those of you that might not have read the series yet), so I'm hoping that this project here will keep me accountable.

In the first installment, which you can read here, I mentioned my favorite characters. I'm going to give them score cards and see how they measure up to my current self throughout the series. This should be interesting (probably to no one but myself) considering Draco has been the ultimate favorite since the series ended. The updated scores from the second post are as follows;

Draco Malfoy - 65%
Hermione Granger - 100%
Fred Weasley - 100%
Hagrid - 100%
Dumbledore - 90%
Snape - 50%
Arthur Weasley - 100%

So both Draco and Snape went down, as well as Dumbledore. I think, in GoF, this is where we see him kind of wanting to figure out the whole Voldemort puzzle more than caring about Harry's mindset.

Chapter 3, pg 55 // "You have not done as I asked. You have never treated Harry as a son. He has known nothing but neglect and often cruelty at your hands. The best that can be said is that he has at least escaped the appalling damage you have inflicted upon the unfortunate boy sitting between you." - LOL someone finally said it.

Chapter 5, pg 103 // "Yep - ten 'Outstandings' and one 'Exceeds Expectations' at Defense Against the Dark Arts." He looked down at her, half-amused, half-exasperated. "You're actually disappointed, aren't you?" Chapter 6, pg 108 // Ginny mimed vomiting into her cereal behind Fleur, Harry choked over his cornflakes, and Ron thumped him on the back. Chapter 7, pg 138 // "I enjoyed the meetings, too," said Luna serenely. "It was like having friends." Chapter 9, pg 180 // "There's no need to call me 'sir', Professor." Chapter 10, pg 216 // "Too late, Harry! You shall hear the story another time. Good night." - Why not just tell him? It's already late!

Chapter 13, pg 276 // "Did I know that I had just met the most dangerous Dark wizard of all time?" said Dumbledore. "No, I had no idea that he was to grow up to be what he is." Chapter 14, pg 286 // "Well, you seemed too busy to call him a prat and I thought someone should -" Chapter 14, pg 291 // "You can save anything when you're on form, it's a mental problem you've got!" - Ron's too emotional.

Chapter 14, pg 302 // Harry spun around to see Hermione pointing her wand at Ron, her expression wild: The little flock of birds was speeding like a hail of fat golden bullets toward Ron, who yelped and covered his face with his hands, but the birds attacked, pecking and clawing at every bit of flesh they could reach. - Hermione is scary when she wants to be.

Chapter 15, pg 310 // "He says very funny things sometimes, doesn't he?" said Luna, as they set off down the corridor together. "But he can be a bit unkind. I noticed that last year." - He's a butt.

Chapter 15, pg 311 // "Nobody's ever asked me to a party before, as a friend! Is that why you dyed your eyebrow, for the party? Should I do mine too?" - LOL

Chapter 15, pg 321 // It was the fact that Malfoy did, after all, look a little ill. Chapter 18, pg 381 // Meanwhile, the Hogwarts library had failed Hermione for the first time in living memory. She was so shocked, she even forgot that she was annoyed at Harry for his trick with the bezoar. Chapter 19, pg 402 // ...leaving a trail of muddy dolphin-sized footprints all over the floor. - Still not over that LOL

Chapter 20, pg 428 // A hot, prickly feeling of shame spread from the top of Harry's head all the way down his body. Dumbledore had not raised his voice, he did not even sound angry, but Harry would have preferred him to yell ; this cold disappointment was worse than anything. - Kind of jerky to make him feel this way.

Chapter 21, pg 449 // "Yes, it must," said Hermione, pointing at the title of his essay, "because we were asked how we'd deal with dementors, not 'Dugbogs', and I don't remember you changing your name to 'Roonil Wazlib' either." Chapter 21, pg 464 // Goyle gave a high-pitched scream of terror, threw the scales up into the air, and sprinted away, vanishing from sight long before the sound of the scales smashing had stopped echoing around the corridor.

Chapter 22, pg 469 // Ron gave a start and tried to hide behind Hermione as a girl came around the corner. "It isn't Lavender," said Hermione wearily. Chapter 22, pg 477 // "I feel like it's the place to be tonight, you know what I mean?" "No," said Ron and Hermione together, both looking positively alarmed now. Chapter 23, pg 503 // "He made SEVEN Horcruxes?" said Harry, horror-struck, while several of the portraits on the walls made similar noises of shock and outrage. Chapter 23, pg 510 // "Voldermort himself created his worst enemy, just as tyrants everywhere do!" Chapter 24, pg 527 // "Then why," asked Snape, "does it have the name 'Roonil Wazlib' written inside the cover?" Harry's heart missed a beat. "That's my nickname," he said. Chapter 26, pg 559 // "Oh, surely not, so crude." Chapter 26, pg 578 // "I am not worried, Harry," said Dumbledore, his voice a little stronger despite the freezing water. "I am with you."

Draco Malfoy - 70%
Hermione Granger - 100%
Sirius Black - 100%
Fred Weasley - 100%
Oliver Wood - 100%
Hagrid - 100%
Dumbledore - 90%
Snape - 45%
Arthur Weasley - 100%

Draco gained a little more love here, as he's definitely being forced to do all this, the poor small bean. And Snape... ugh, he just keeps going down.
